


I'm doing a road trip to SoCal tomorrow for the Holidays but before I leave am making a point to pick up the new Mike Stern/Jeff Lorber release, "Eleven". It will be posted later today so check back if interested. I didnt know much about Lorber (and reading that he played smooth jazz almost deterred me) but Im a fan of Mike Stern. The fusion between Jeff Lorber and Mike Stern is striking in itself - what makes this CD outstanding from my point of view is the aggravating circumstance under. While both artists got their start in the late 1970s playing a hybrid of jazz and electric rock, they each moved in slightly different directions. I have one other audio only that is more of the progressive/jamming bent that you might expect from these guys. I recently read that Jeff Lorber has released a new album, which got me thinking about the Mike Stern/Jeff Lorber Fusion collaboration album that came out a couple of years ago, Eleven. The first pairing between crossover jazz icons keyboardist Jeff Lorber and guitarist Mike Stern, 2019's Eleven is an engaging fusion album that balances each musician's distinct musical personality.
